55 and still alive!!

So I finally was able to load my pictures and now I can catch up!! I have some random pictures.

We traveled up to Cortez, Colorado for Christmas and we went sledding with the grandchildren.
It had been years since we had done that and we had a blast, even though it was 9 degrees.

Sam, Rachel and Jett came to visit just before he had to go back to Missouri to finish his Army training.

We got to go to a Phoenix Suns game in December and Mario Lopez just happened to be there judging a dance contest. Unfortuantely the Suns lost but it was a great time and we stayed the night and went to the Temple the next day.

For David's Birthday/Christmas I made him a denium quilt with camoflauge backing and also made him a pillow. He was totally surprised. Next I will try to make a large denium quilt for our bedroom.

We traveled up to Cedar City over the Valentines Day weekend to take Sam and Rachel some much needed furniture. We had a great time and we even went bowling. I won the first game with 146 and Sam kick our butts in the second game with 217 points and 7 strikes, 6 in a row.

Sam has such a great spin on the ball, it was just amazing to watch him throw the ball.

The rest of us just did the best we could, Rachel had a style of her own and tried several different ways, backward, left handed, pushing with both hands, holding Jett and even kicking the ball.

David did the regular bowling and did good. We all had a great time.

Jett wanted to play but he could only watch and keep us entertained and ate a lot of mini goldfish.

Such a cute little man.

I have been working out at Snap fitness every morning at 4:30 am since September and have really been enjoying it. The middle of January after talkin to Katie and her telling me she wanted to run a half marathon with Lori, I got to thinking about running. No! not a half marathon, just a little 5k. I had been told after my knee surgery that I should not run races, but I have had no problems and so after talking to David I though it would be fun. He called me one morning and said that Sedona would be holding their 5th Marathon, Half marathon and 5k on Feb. 6th. So I started running more at the gym and finally convinced myself that I was going to enter the race. So I did and I think I did really good. Funny thing is it must have been what I needed to do, because when I went and got my number I looked at it and got the feeling that I needed to do this race. My number was 1522 (55) add the 2+2+1. Since I turned 55 this year I figured it was a great way to start the year. I was really excited about the race and I only have a few pictures to show because David could not come, he had a church meeting in Phoenix, so I was by myself. There were some ladies from David's store that walked and ran. It was about 45 degrees when the race started at 8:30 am and I could not believe how many people were doing just the 5k. Their were 497 people that had leg timers plus another 100 that did not. So the race started and I must say it was exilerating to be running with all of these people, their were even little kids, 6 years old running. All said and done, I ran and walked( just the hills) the 3.1 miles in 39 minutes and 44 seconds. I finished 356 out of 497 runners. I thought it would take me at least and hour and so I was very happy with my accomplishment. Am I ready for a half marathon, heck no! I will just enjoy what I have done and maybe start riding a bike for the next 5k.

Ready to start the race, not knowing what to expect.

This was right behind the area of where the race started. It was a beautiful area to run in.

These next pictures I took just before the run, everyone trying to go to the bathroom.

At least I had a good view while waiting my turn to go to the port o potty.

Feeling good and very proud of myself after running the race.

Good job on your run, Debbi! You inspire that rest of us. Great pictures. Jett is so cute. I'm impressed you made that blanket without Dave knowing! I want to make one someday.

Good for you! I've never ran any kind of race, let alone after knee surgery. Well done.

P.S. I can't believe you get up every morning at 4:30 to work out. You are ferocious.

Nate's wondering if hell froze over to get a blog post out of you guys! :)

Thanks for the reminder that I am supposed to be training for this half marathon. With all of the snow and cold, its tough to get motivated to run outside. I've just been doing workout videos indoors to try to get rid of these last few baby pounds.
