27 March 2010 Springtime FInally!!

A few weeks ago we went down to Mesa to go to the Temple, it was closed because of the Easter Pagent and cleaning, and on the road we took this picture of a traveling dentist and we immediately thought of Nathan. You will need to make the picture bigger to see the writing on the trailer. What a great way to see the country or state! Who knows, Nate, this could be in your future? We just hung out in Phoenix and the next day we decided to go and see some of the local parks right around Camp Verde.

Our first stop was Montezuma's Castle. We had not actually been there since we had moved here so it was lots of fun. It still amazes us how people could have lived in these dwellings.

It was nice to see the creek running and the beginnings of spring. Some of the trees were beginning to bud and it was great to just have nice weather and be out enjoying it.

We love to take pictures of trees. They can be so unique and this one was no exception.

Next we went down the road a little ways and went to Montezuma's Well. This should bring back some memories for Katie and Nate. They both had field trips here. Sam and Ben went with me and Aunt Doe just after we had moved down here. Do you all remember? Jake I am not sure you ever went but I hope you did. If not it would be a great place to take your family sometime.

This is the trail that goes down below the well.

We had a great time and hope to start doing more adventures as the weather gets warmer.

55 and still alive!!

So I finally was able to load my pictures and now I can catch up!! I have some random pictures.

We traveled up to Cortez, Colorado for Christmas and we went sledding with the grandchildren.
It had been years since we had done that and we had a blast, even though it was 9 degrees.

Sam, Rachel and Jett came to visit just before he had to go back to Missouri to finish his Army training.

We got to go to a Phoenix Suns game in December and Mario Lopez just happened to be there judging a dance contest. Unfortuantely the Suns lost but it was a great time and we stayed the night and went to the Temple the next day.

For David's Birthday/Christmas I made him a denium quilt with camoflauge backing and also made him a pillow. He was totally surprised. Next I will try to make a large denium quilt for our bedroom.

We traveled up to Cedar City over the Valentines Day weekend to take Sam and Rachel some much needed furniture. We had a great time and we even went bowling. I won the first game with 146 and Sam kick our butts in the second game with 217 points and 7 strikes, 6 in a row.

Sam has such a great spin on the ball, it was just amazing to watch him throw the ball.

The rest of us just did the best we could, Rachel had a style of her own and tried several different ways, backward, left handed, pushing with both hands, holding Jett and even kicking the ball.

David did the regular bowling and did good. We all had a great time.

Jett wanted to play but he could only watch and keep us entertained and ate a lot of mini goldfish.

Such a cute little man.

I have been working out at Snap fitness every morning at 4:30 am since September and have really been enjoying it. The middle of January after talkin to Katie and her telling me she wanted to run a half marathon with Lori, I got to thinking about running. No! not a half marathon, just a little 5k. I had been told after my knee surgery that I should not run races, but I have had no problems and so after talking to David I though it would be fun. He called me one morning and said that Sedona would be holding their 5th Marathon, Half marathon and 5k on Feb. 6th. So I started running more at the gym and finally convinced myself that I was going to enter the race. So I did and I think I did really good. Funny thing is it must have been what I needed to do, because when I went and got my number I looked at it and got the feeling that I needed to do this race. My number was 1522 (55) add the 2+2+1. Since I turned 55 this year I figured it was a great way to start the year. I was really excited about the race and I only have a few pictures to show because David could not come, he had a church meeting in Phoenix, so I was by myself. There were some ladies from David's store that walked and ran. It was about 45 degrees when the race started at 8:30 am and I could not believe how many people were doing just the 5k. Their were 497 people that had leg timers plus another 100 that did not. So the race started and I must say it was exilerating to be running with all of these people, their were even little kids, 6 years old running. All said and done, I ran and walked( just the hills) the 3.1 miles in 39 minutes and 44 seconds. I finished 356 out of 497 runners. I thought it would take me at least and hour and so I was very happy with my accomplishment. Am I ready for a half marathon, heck no! I will just enjoy what I have done and maybe start riding a bike for the next 5k.

Ready to start the race, not knowing what to expect.

This was right behind the area of where the race started. It was a beautiful area to run in.

These next pictures I took just before the run, everyone trying to go to the bathroom.

At least I had a good view while waiting my turn to go to the port o potty.

Feeling good and very proud of myself after running the race.

"Duck, Duck, Goose"

Ben and Ryley playing in the leaves and rolling down the hill.

After lunch on Sunday the guys were on the porch and played a game of Duck, Duck, Goose with Ryley, Ben and Olivia. It was hilarious.

Reese's Blessing/Fall Colors of the East!!

Last weekend we went back to Maryland for Reese's Blessing. We got lots of Grandpa and Grandma time. We arrived on Friday afternoon and had some alone time until everyone else
there. It was a very qucik trip but was well worth it. We loved the rain on Saturday and the
leaves were outstanding. Katie, Kevin and the kids got there on Friday night and then Jake
and Deanne arrived on Saturday evening. We had a great time just being around each other
and passing little Reese around. She is so beautiful and Ryley, Ben, Olivia and Ethan were
great. We went sightseeing on Saturday, in the rain, to see the leaves changing and all the
horse farms and green, green, grass. We had to go to Wegmans and to a nursery filled with
large pumpkins. Lori already posted the pictures of the blessing and they were great. Sunday
afternoon after lunch we all went to a local park, we were going to go to a resvoir but it was closed so we went to the park. We had a great time playing soccer, football, and just talking
and enjoying each others company. There are several pictures but they were even more, so
I picked out just a few.

Grandpa Time!!! Grandma Time!!!
After bath time, wrapped up like a burrito!
Playtime with Uncle Ben!

Leaves right in front of Nate's house. Amazing!

Ryley and Ben could not resist collecting leaves!

Walking in the rain with Grandpa!

Hanging out with Grandma!!

Nate and Ben's Jack-O-Lanterns!!!

Ethan ready to go for a ride!

The colors were amazing.
So much greeeeen!!!!!!!!!
Leaves galore!!!!
What a beautiful drive!!!!

That's one big Pumpkin!
Which way do we go??
Little Ben, Caitlin, Olivia, Ethan and Ryley.
Cute Couple!
So we decided to go to a resevoir to walk out
by the water and when we got there it was closed.
We decided to turn around and go to a park that
was close by. Everyone was turning on the pavement
and Kevin decided to pull in the grass off the pavement
to turn around and with the rain we had gotten the day
before and no 4 wheel drive he was stuck!! He tried to
back up but just kept spinning his tires. So Nate and Ben
come to the rescue, they just happen to have a tow rope
in one of their cars. So they hook it up to the back of the
Suburban and pull him back onto the pavement. It is
always an adventure with the Miller Family. Thanks for
the fun time Kevin.

Olivia having fun on the jungle gym.
Girl Talk!!
Playing football with little Ben and everyone else.
Huddling up to make a play. We had a great time and as the sun went down
we got on the plane and came home. All was good
until we got to Phoenix and David's bag did not
show up. It was lost and we did not get it back until
Tuesday. It had been left in Baltimore and it came in
Tuesday and they brought it to our doorstep. How's
that for service.
