"A Little Heaven on Earth"

Last Friday on the long four day weekend, David and I were in Phoenix. I had to have some surgery on my right leg and after that we went our to dinner with Ben and Caitlin and then went to the movies. It was a great time and we enjoyed being out with Ben and Caitlin. My leg is fine and I will have the other leg done on March 3. After the movies we went home but before we did we went by a new soccer complex, unfortunately I did not take the pictures that night with all the fog on the fields, it was really cool and did look a little like Heaven. But on Saturday we went back down to Phoenix to watch the girls basketball team play the second round of state, and we went to the fields and took the following pictures. David was in Heaven, he could not believe how nice and how many fields there were. Eleven in all with one field as the premier field, it was done with astro turf, very nice. David wants to see if he can get next years state soccer play offs at this complex. The grass was not bermuda but good, nice grass as you can see.

After we watched our girls team loose in the second round to Pusch Ridge we decided that we would go to Prescott Valley and watch a movie. I guess that was not to be the case. We turned off at Cordes Junction and started towards Prescott Valley and I was on the phone talking to Nathan and I hear a sound like we hit something and then a swishing sound and then we were pulling over with a flat tire. The right rear passenger side tire was totally flat. Of course Dave knows how to change a tire, it is just that we had not had to do it on a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck. Luckily we had a spotlight, because the flashlight we had was basically dead. So as I am freezing and shaking and holding the light Dave and I began the 45 minute ordeal of changing the tire on the side of the road with traffic whizzing by. At least it was not raining or snowing just the wind blowing and about 40 degrees. Just as we were finishing a man stopped behind us and asked if he could help, I had been silently praying for some help. He had a 4 way tire iron and that helped and he lifted the flat tire into the truck. By the time we got over to the theatre the next showing of Jumper was not until 10:30pm and so we just went to Pizza Hut and had a nice dinner. I gues we were just tryint to do to much in one day. So while I was holding the light and freezing I also took the following pictures, David of course did all the work. I am sure glad he was there because I could not have even lifted the tire to get it on or off the truck. It had to of weighed at least 200lbs., or so it seemed. David is up coaching his tournament soccer team in a friendly game with a team from Sedona. He is sick but you know how much he loves soccer. The weather today is clear and blue, blue skies, but cold. We had rain on Wednesday night. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures. Sam and Rachel you need to update your blog, please. Love mom and dad.

"The Calm Before the Storm"

Saturday David and I decided to get out of the house
while the weather was good. We went up on the mountains
that are to the left of I-17 called Copper Canyon to go ATV
riding. We took some awesome pictures from the trip going
up and coming down. The very next day, Sunday, we woke
up to a drizzling rain, so we got our ride in just before the storm
hit.

Time To Catch Up

We had a lot of things take place over the Christmas vacation. Everyone was home for Christmas and on top of that we had a wedding. Nathan and Lori arrived on the 19th of Dec. and then Sam and Rachel, Jake and Deanne all came in on the 21st of Dec. We all met at the Mesa Temple on Sat., Dec. 22nd for Ben and Caitlin's Endowment session.

The glowing couple after their ENDOWMENT SESSION.

We all got together for a family photo on Christmas Day.

Below are some random pictures that we took during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Olivia was dancing to the music coming from the music box.

Both grandmothers were able to be there on Christmas Day.

We had a great time with all of our children home and with the grandchildren. This video is of some boys and girls having a good time at the school playground trying to waste some time until Christmas Eve. Jake and Sam were in Cortez because Jake had to work on Christmas Eve. We all went to the playground on Sunday before Christmas. It was a great time.

"TOOL TIME' for Benjamin

We had a new experience last night as we traveled down to Chandler for "Tool Time" for Benjamin. I guess you could call it a bridal shower only for the groom to be. Everyone that came was from either Caitlin's family or from Ben's. You brought a gift that Ben could use to help fix up around the house, hence the title "Tool Time". Ben is opening some of the great gifts he received and Caitlin is writing down who gave them.

When we started Ben and Caitlin had to introduce each others family members that were there. Unfortunaltely Ben did not have as many from his family there, but they will be there for the wedding. David, me, Katie, Kevin, Ryley, Ben, Olivia and Aaron were Ben's support. Caitlin on the other hand had probably thiry plus people there. Ben named at least 90 percent of them. He has truly found a great family to belong to.

As the night progressed Ben had to show how good of a handy man he could really be in a pinch. So they had him nail ten nails into a 4x4 piece of wood as fast as he could. Everyone wrote down how long they thought it would take him. The winners were his dad, David, and Cailtin's mom, Jeanette. It took him 2 minutes and 34 seconds. Take a look at the video. It was my first time doing a video so I hope to get better each time. When Ben was doing this he was actually making sparks fly, even though you can not see it on the video. ENJOY!!

The next video shows how much Caitlin's family has excepted him. How many guys do you know that have their own song or ballad sung to them by the mother, aunt and sister of Caitlin. Ben has truly found the love of his life and we are so very happy for him and Caitlin!!!!

Ryley, Ben and Olivia had a great time and fit right in with the rest of the children. At the end before everyone left we played a game called the hat game. It is like musical chairs only you stay standing and everyone has on a hat but one and when the music starts you walk in a circle and take off the hat of the person in front of you when your hat is taken. When the music stops the person without a hat is out of the game. Of course this is a not contact game, right, it becomes a knock down, drag out fight to make sure that you have a hat, at any cost, when the music stops. These are some of the pictures.

As you can see we had a very enjoyable evening.
