After being down 0-2 in the first inning, the team rallied and started getting on base so that we could score. We tied the score 2-2 and never looked back. Next thing you know we were ahead 3-2.
The short game became a large part of how we were able to come back and get some much needed runs.
Being ahead just gave us the energy that we needed to go ahead and score again making the score 4-2, going into the bottom of the sixth inning. We held them, getting three up and three down. We did not score in the top of the seventh and all we needed to do was get three outs. But we had to work for it and that made it more special. With no out they got runners on 1st and 2nd. We were able to hold those runners and get two outs. Next a ball was hit down the 3rd base line and hit the dirt/chalk line and I thought they were going to score 2 runs and have the winning run on 2nd. But that is where the luck comes into play. The ball hit dirt but not chalk and the official was right on the line and calleed the ball foul. So with tow outs and the winning run at the plate, the batterwas the girl that hit the double that scored their two runs in the first inning. My pitcher did her job ans she hit a grounder between third and short and my short stop fielded the ball and tossed it to third base and the bench went nuts as we became 2A State Champions.
Yes, I got the water cooler dumped on me and it was well worth it.

Still in shock we congratulate the other team, who is in shock that we had beaten them.
Tears all the way around, and the team is still speechless and cannot believe that we are State Champions.
Holding the Championship Trophy helped us believe that we really did win.
Try talking with reporter when you are speechless and are so overwhelmed that you can't think straight. I really had to catch my breath before I could talk.
Without these two coaches we could not have done what we did. Thanks!!!!
Did they put up this sign just for us????? What a great picture. We got a full page in the Arizona Republic and made the front page of the Sports section. We made front page of the local newspaper and then we also were asked to be on the local radion station. We are also being honored at a Diamonbacks game this Thursday during the pre-game show.... It can't get any better than this. I am so proud of my team and my coaches! Oh, by the way, God does answer prayers, sometimes it takes 12 years, but the wait was well worth it.

I'm so happy for you. I wanted to come watch but then had to be realistic. Congrats again! We're proud of you!
Wow, this story was much more complete than the one that you told me in person. Congratulations! I'm glad that somebody has been able to bring a championship trophy back to Camp Verde in recent years.
Wow I just realized how much terminology I don't know! It sounds like you guys worked so hard. Great Job!!
Congratulations! That is fun and exciting!
So has the excitement died down yet? Its pretty exciting that both of you have championships now. Now I guess the only one who needs one is Nate. Did you know he's never one a championship in his life?
